Cowboy

A cowboy character I created thanks to the game Red Dead Redemotion. I've been playing it for hours on end and ended up gettign inspired to make my own booze-lovin, women-chasing, gun-wielding cowboy. He's loud mouthed, vulgar, and doesn't know when to shut up. And his bark is worse than his bite, as he is an awful duelist and can't fight to save his own life. Which he's put in danger countless times. By no means a coward, yet still bad mouths those who aren't to be bad mouthed so he's pretty stupid. He's deaf in his right ear, as it's a bit buggered up looking with a scar that runs from the split to under his eye. I image its a knife cut from messing with a gang.
He's a fair horse rider though. So he's not completely useless. Owns a palomino kentucky saddler (the one in the game) which he broke himself. Gets money from stealing or catching/breaking horses for other people and trading them.
I dunno what to name him.

1. Describe your overall thoughts on the final piece.

Fun, time-consuming but overall has a really neat outcome.

2. How successful do you feel this piece is and why?

Successful, it's a good way to use design and art in one project.

3. What worked about this project? What didn’t work?

It worked for the most part. Depending on what style of typography you wanted to use, it could have turned out real well. On the downside, it took a long time with typing out individual words and placing them specifically.

4. If you were to do this project over again, what changes would you consider making?

Nothing particularly, I find that although it takes a long time, its overal a good project and one I'd keep using in future classes.

5. What was the most difficult part about completing this piece and why?

It takes a lot of patience, since it's not a quickly-done project.

6. What did you learn from this piece?

Art can be more than just drawing, it can invlve putting text and words into a picture to make it more than it initially appears.

1. Describe your overall thoughts on the final piece.

It was interesting and a good combination of both photography and computer manipulations.

2. How successful do you feel this piece is and why?

It was successful, because it was an easy intro to the class.

3. What worked about this project? What didn’t work?

It was an easy manip and could have been done using several different techniques. However, it didn't work in that poses were difficult to take because you had to keep the camera consistently still and move around so no poses overlapped.

4. If you were to do this project over again, what changes would you consider making?

I would hold the camera more steady so I wouldn't have to keep positioning each pose to match the layer under it.

5. What was the most difficult part about completing this piece and why?

It was hard to move the clones so they lined up with the background behind them.

6. What did you learn from this piece?

I learned that there is more than one way to photo manipulate a picture and that it's best to work cleanly; if you start out crappy, it's going to be a mess throughout the entire thing. Make your layers neat and to perfection so you wont have to fix mistakes later.

First entry for Mr. Sands' Computer Art and Animation class.
